Guest Artist and Hunts New Look to the Annex

New Guest Artist and Hunts. Summer Sunrise and Sunsets on the Equator Hunt. Megastuffs Hunt (Homestuff) See Below. There has also been a facelift to the Gallery Annex rental areas with new larger and more attractive spaces. Come and take a look.

There is a lot going on in the gallery for February. We have guest artist Artfulcare here showing his Photography from the Australian Bush. Artfulcare has never shown his work in Second Life Before. This exhibit shows many beautiful and interesting photographs taken from the Australian bush. It is also a rotating exhibit as he will be changing out some of the art and replacing it with some other pieces. Very nice Exhibit.

The Summer Sunrise and Sunsets on the Equator is Starting on February 15th. This is the fifth hunt the gallery has organized and the 2nd annual hunt for the SS&S ot Equator.

The Homestuffs Hunt starts on the 1st of March. this is a huge Second Life (tm) grid wide hunt. The Gallery has a free gift at the Stuffs Lounge and has also entered into the hunt.

The Homestuff the Womenstuff and the Menstuff are all running at the same time. So it proves to be huge!

Emmalena Damour's Art Gallery Annex at Rivendale has a new look. There have been some major enhancements. 4 of the rental spaces have been removed and 2 new buildings have been added to replace the first building. These buildings each have 2 stories and have an entrance similar to the main gallery. This more attractive entrance is pleasing to the eye. The old building was 4 stories and more utilitarian. This has the glamour of a nice space. The 4 spaces are much larger and easy to move around in.  2 of the spaces have 100 prim available and the other 2 have 75 prim available.

Raglan Shire ArtWalk

The show was officially opened on Sunday May 5th and runs through May 26th. Press releases have been sent to inworld media. ArtWalk is a featured event in the May SL Showcase.This is the 8th annual artwalk at the tinies land.

This is an interesting collection of art from many artists. The artwalk has Real Life drawing, painting and photography as well as Second Life art, sculpture and Photography.

I have walked around the different areas in the artwalk and have seen some wonderful and original art. It is so fascinating to view other artists work without having to go very far. Some of the art is thought provoking, other pieces of art are whimsical, all of it is beautiful. Two artists at the Gallery have some of their art at the walk. Emmalena Damour and CarmanTurner. New Guest Artist  Aely Witte

 

  We have a new guest artist from May 1 through May 31, 2013. Her work is hanging in the gallery now. She definitely has a different type of exhibit than I have had in the gallery before.

 

"SL or RL? " exhibit..

I am glad to provide the artist a chance to show some of her art. This is a new exhibit by an artist showing her photographic art for the first time in Second Life.

Aely Witte is an accomplished model, producer and director in SL. She is also a content creator.  In RL she is a street photographer.  Her art is a form of photojournalism where intimately, usually from only several meters,  she captures real people in their moments of joy, love, sadness, excitement and their special acts of being "human".  "SL or RL?" is a comparative exhibit of how similar our virtual and human uniqueness is.

So can you tell which photographs are Second Life and which are Real Life?

 

Aely Witte currently does not have a gallery or gallery space elsewhere here in sl. This exhibit will determine if she wants to have a space.

So buy some of her art if you are able to.

 

Also all proceeds from Aely's art sales will be donated to the Epilepsy Foundation.

Guest Artist Shangreloo Kuhn Exhibit

Shangreloo Kuhn exhibits her art for 1 month.

We have the Fabulous Fantasy art of Shangreloo Kuhn on display as our guest artist this month. She creates fantasy art of unrivaled skill to share with us. Some of this art has never been seen in SL before. The exhibit starts today April 1st and runs through April 30th.


We are having an exhibit party with live music by the talented writer performer Capos Calderwood aka Alex Whitmore Alex Whitmore.com.

Easter Egg Hunt and new areas for artists

Wow things have been changing around here! With the winter version of the Summer Sunrise and Sunsets Hunt over with we are onto new ventures.

First of all I have acquired the land next to the /gallery and have added 2 buildings for artist rental or other vendor rental. There are 8 new spaces to rent. Here is a photo.

There is already one space rented out, besides the 2 spaces I am using for the Frame shop and for household and miscellaneous items.

We also have an Easter Egg hunt going on.

The hunt is for the egg itself. There are 16 different designer eggs. All of them have original textures. Most of them can be used all year in a display. Some of them say "Happy Easter". There are also 3 different egg holders to display your eggs. The pewter one, the walnut one and the cherry wood holder. One of the eggs contains a pewter holder, which is copy and transfer, so you can display any of the eggs you find.The Hunt goes through Easter Sunday. Below is an idea of what you are looking for. Each egg is $1L.

It has been a long time since I took the time to blog. I apologize for my neglect. I have been very busy. I have been learning and creating. Though the creating is the best part. I haven't actually painted an acrylic in quite some time, though I replaced old paint a couple of months ago. So last Sunday I put down a drop cloth, put a canvas on an easel, and started to paint. The painting is called "Dawn Of The Storm", which I will show you below. I am so excited about the new art that can be seen at the Gallery or at my RL website. "Carman Turner Fine Art"  I will also be displaying one digital Fractal paintng, called "Flowers In Vase". My secret identity has been revealed! Hehe! You will see that my real name is displayed on some of the art in SL, as well as my Avatar name.

It has been an interesting month for the gallery and me. From the Lilith Cates exhibit opening party, to the Summer Sunrise and Sunset hunt and then to an addition to the gallery for unique frames which I am now designing and making for sale.
To start off I am posting just a few of the opening photos.

I have been a busy Curator and Artist. I found a cool program in SL that pre-configures Blender. The program is Jass and it takes blender and adds the python scripts and primstar all into one very easy to use program for creating sculpty for SL. I then have been taking the tutorials that are available by having primstar and Jass. The results are amazing. I have had Blender installed on both of my computers for a long time, but have been totally clueless as to how to use it. The 2 tutorials I previously took are for people that already have an idea as to what the program is. Installing the python scripts into Blender was not clearly explained and I felt unqualified to do it on my own after several attempts. Jass made it really easy, as all was done for me on installation. So, with just a couple of tutorials I was able to do what I have been wanting to do. Make some frames for sale in the gallery. I also was playing around with a sculpt torus and made what was looking like a shark, so I continued manipulating it. The result was a 4 prim sculpture with 3 sculpt and one regular prim. Not bad for a first attempt at sculptures. It is near the landing point in the gallery.

News at the Gallery!
Finally starting with guest artists again. Since I now own the land at this location I am starting the guest artists back up. When I was renting the land I could not use SL Events to post exhibits, so I gave up on having guest artists. Now I am once again in full swing with guest artists. I am also organizing a hunt. The hunt is called the Summer Sunrise and Sunset Hunt. The hunt starts on July 15 and goes through August 15th.

New SL artwork My apology for being remiss on keeping this blog up to date. Things have transpired that took my passion for the blog,second life, the gallery and the art. I have now come full turn and have been able to survive the issues. I had to get rid of the sl land I had for financial reasons. The new gallery location was on a friends land and I have not had land privileges so it has been difficult to run as it should be. I have recently decided I need to be creative and continue with a rebirth of the type of art I display for myself. I have been creating. Then this week the land owner sold me the land the gallery is on for 0L Bless her. I can now advertise and run things as they should be. This would include me being able to have live music and Dj's for events, and be able to change the stream for those events. It would also allow me to advertise once again in SL Events, which makes a big difference in getting new people into the gallery.
There are a couple of boards on the top floor in the gallery with some recent photography and artwork. There is also a wall in the back behind the dance floor that has a new type of art for me. These were originally photographs taken in sl, but they have been manipulated into a new form of art for me. So Please come by and see the new artwork.

So please come and see the art in the Gallery. Also check out the rental area, for other artists, located on the lower level. You can get there either by using the elevator and go to floor 1, the stairs on the side of the building, or the teleporter on each level.

The Art of Humor Exhibit by Elbow Muggins

I am posting here early before the actual exhibit party because I wanted the people in Virtual Bloggers to see this post so that some may attend the Charity Exhibit. Elbow Muggins is a RL Commercial Illustrator. He is donating 50% of the profits from sales of the illustrated humor panels and his Christmas cards to the Children's Tumor Foundation.
This party will be Tuesday December 20th, at 6:30 PM SLT.
The exhibit runs from Dec. 15th through Dec 27th.

The Beauty of Second Life Exhibit by Zeeva Quintessa

This Exhibit is a successful exhibit once again. We had the part on December 5th. It was a smaller than usual turnout, may have been the time or it may have been any of a lot of different reasons.
I was quite impressed with her new work. Many of these pieces I had not seen before. I am posting 2 of the paintings here and my interpretation of what each the paintings message is.

"Between Two Worlds"--and--"Sometimes We Break"

I will talk about how I interpreted "Sometimes We Break" first, as I was drawn to this one again and again. I do not know what drew me, the colors or the different things in the painting. Finally the day of the party I verbalized what the painting said to me. With the sunset in the background and the open space, it reminded me of the end of a happy movie, where the hero rides off into the sunset and all is good. Then seeing the filmstrip broken and the curtains blowing in the wind, the couple reflected in the filmstrip and the name of the piece I got to thinking. Sometimes we break. Well the film strip was torn, so that signified the sometimes we do break. What is the deeper meaning though. "Sometimes We Break" well sometimes we as people do break, in our souls, in our hearts and in our spirit. Sometimes the happy ending portrayed in the movies never happens for many people. Sometimes life breaks our heart so bad that we can never see the happy ending and ride into the sunset. Thought provoking yes for me it is.

The last person to be at the opening party stayed and viewed the paintings with me. I had told him about what I saw in "Sometimes We Break" He said "Oh I can see that now. What do you see in the other one "Between Two Worlds"?" I stood there and looked at it. Then I saw it
The sword or dagger on the ground signifies a fight or struggle. The broken dress form, the chairs falling from the sky all signify material things. I saw the dress form as a metaphor of material. I saw a transparent woman in the background. There were birds and plants and wild things. This painting could be the struggle between the material world and the natural world. It could actually have a few different meanings. For example the struggle from being in the real world and the second life world. The struggle between being in the real world and the spiritual world. The struggle within oneself over the many things one deals with in life. Do I want to keep working hard and earning money so I can have the nice things that catch my eye, or do I want to just enjoy the natural things in life that are around me every day, and be more serene?
Both of these paintings are thought provoking to me.

An artist who can make one think so deeply by he work she shows is a very talented artist.

My first few days in Second Life were spent playing as a “Vampire”, running around trying to suck people dry of their blood (seems very silly to me now), but it was fun at the moment for me. I was also amazed by the fashion that was being produced here, some extremely nice outfits – very much like wearable art. So needless to say the next few months I wandered around to find new stores and fun things to experience. That is how
I discovered so many different “artsy” style sims, some truly amazing builds, I was in awe. So much that I found myself spending more and more time searching these types of
areas out. The type of places you could sit at for hours, never speaking, never moving...to just be there.

As time went on, I started to photograph these sims that I had come know and love. With a little help of some personal background music my photos became a bit more complex with textures I had hand painted on the computer or in RL then uploaded. These images and the process were (still is) always an emotional experience for me, often times bringing tears to my eyes for some feeling that was brought to surface by the location, the image and the music playing at that time. My photos are mainly done for me, as it can be very therapeutic...however it was wonderful to find out others were also taking notice of some of my creations – hence the SL career launch as a photographer. I now have two galleries which showcase some of my photos and artwork. I feel very lucky to have found a calling in SL.

On my non-photo taking days I can often be found sailing or flying at the Blake Sea areas of Second Life. It’s very inspirational to me and I find a lot of peace just riding the SL winds. With so many different activities to do, I think I will be here in SL for a good bit of time, seeing what sort of trouble I can get into.

MJ Rainforest -DJ-

Our DJ was MJ Rainforest (Shell-Shell) has been a DJ for a good portion of her time here in SL. She is one of the few DJ I know that will actually search out specific music at your request and set up the gig with what you want. She plays almost every type of music. She tries to appropriately match the music to the venue and the event. I am so happy to have her here, when I need her. I value the friendship I have with Shell.

Moe Sandalwood presenting his "Dezentricised" exhibit!

Here is some information about this fantastic exhibit and about the artist! This information is taken from the notecards that Moe had provided to me.

Dezentricised
=========

"Dezentricised" consists of an installation and a series of primages derived from it - made in the first week of November 2011.

The show:
"Dezentricised" is a series of works that are oscillating between several extremes.
The work is imbalaced and yet harmonic, formalistic and abstract, even and odd at the same time.
It travels from light to dark, between color and grey, shiny and dull.
The viewer can rest in it, yet will never get rid of a certain unsettling, uneasy feeling.
 "Dezentricised" draws it's energy from this perpetuum-pendulum motion present in the uncertainty of our present day times.

Story behind "Dezentricised - Centricsim Series":
Moeuhane Sandalwood's artistic venue has always followed two paths - realistic and abstract. Both sides come to their rights within their own time.
After the rather story driven installations in the first half of 2011, Moe's other side demanded its space again. Moeuhane Sandalwood went back to prim-based abstractions.
For a recent exhibition he revisited his "Centricism"-Series - which was one of his first primphotography-explorations after coming to Second Life in 2009.
While hanging the exhibition the idea for the installation came to him - and he instantly started building right on the spot.
After the final touches on the installation in his studio Moeuhane Sandalwood decided that the installation is the perfect base to continue the original "Centricism"-Series with a "twist". The new series "Dezentricised" was born - and premiering here at Emmalena Damour's Art Gallery in November 2011.

Moe Sandalwood (moeuhane.sandalwood) is a storyteller and conceptual photographer, specializing in 'staged art'.

As a resident artist Moe is part of the Aeonia Arts Group.

For the most part Moe works with scenery and moods found on the awesome sims presented by SL's most gifted residents.
Although working with specific locations and scenery at times, he mostly picks out a tiny detail and tries to capture the story within - to be relived by the spectator in his/her very personal way.

Every piece of his work is a stage of life where the spectator is also actor and director, creating the story through his/her own eyes.

In the January 2011 round of the UWA Art Challenge Moe Sandalwood was awarded the "Workhouse & Art Place d-o-o-b Prize" for his piece "Shivering Rock".

Moe exhibited at Burn2 - as part of the Aeonia Arts Group. A recreation of the famed installation "Welcome to fabulous AntVegas" can be seen at Aeonia.

Recently Moe Sandalwood also started to share some RL-photography in Second Life.

The exhibit was a success. We had live music provided by Ghostie Wildmist singing some wonderful songs with her sexy sultry voice. Not as many people there as normal for the actual party, but people have been coming and seeing the exhibit throughout the week.
