LaylaSmith New Guest Artist

I am looking forward to the current exhibit in my gallery being a total success. My new guest artist LaylaSmith displayed her art in the gallery on Thursday Morning. I was totally impressed with her paintings and her photography. Layla is a real life artist.
She has a wonderful perception and depth in her photography. Her eyes and lens catch the most beautiful photos. She also has a very keen sense of color and blending abilities in her paintings.
This collection contains 4 paintings, 20 photographs, and 1 sl photo.
Layla is very new to the world of art in Second Life. I was introduced to her by a friend of mine that I have known for about 10 months here in second Life. She knew that Layla was interested in displaying her art in SL. MMMorgaine also knew I owned a gallery and that I know the ins and outs of how to display the art, the market for art, the different types of art in sl.
So once we were introduced, within days, I introduced Layla to Hope McAlpine who was in charge of the art at the 911 Hope and Remembrance expo in 2nd life. I had just displayed 6 of my photographs at the exhibit. Layla displayed her first 6 photographs at the art exhibit there. I was thrilled to help her get a start there.
I asked her shortly after her work was put up there, to display as a guest artist in my gallery. She was so excited about it she took some very special photographs just to show at my gallery. So please come and give this new SL artist the support and welcome that we all would give to an artist! Below is information about Layla.

LaylaSmith Resident

As a young girl Layla's father had a dark room in their home, for the development of his personal photography.  She loved her fathers photography and took an interest to it.  In 1998 she began photographing landscapes.  In 2004 Layla attended the Finishing School for Decorative Painting, Decorative Moldings and Wood FInishing.  She has designed and painted homes for RL clients.

The Earth, WInd, Fire and Water Collection is comprised of several different elements found in nature that embody the essence of these elements.

Layla uses photography and decorative painting to express her view of the world as she sees it.  She captures nature in her own unique way.
"The simplest things can become beautiful when captured on camera."  Her background in decorative painting is displayed in the Fire and Earth sections.

Living on the coast has offered Layla many photo opportunities.  Her travels also allow for may beautiful scenic photographs.

Real Life Decorative Paintings include:
From the Earth COllection:
Cherub
Lusterstone over Tissue

From the Fire Collection:
Acid Washed Glaze
Glaze over Tissue

SL Photo:
Earth Collection:
Wisteria

All other art is Real Life Photography.

The Exhibit opening will have live music. This music will be provided by Ghostie Wildmist. Ghostie is not new to SL, but she is new to singing in SL.
I met Ghostie when she was half owner of Back to the Eighties club. I contracted her to have the singer I was managing sing at the club. Things happen in RL and SL and sometimes we are thrown in a new direction. That happened to Ghostie to the benefit of all of us live music fans. Ghostie will be performing live for us at the Earth Wind Fire and Water Exhibit opening party
.
A little bit of information on Ghostie follows as well as her personal message to us all.
Ghostie Wildmist

Keeping the audience engaged with her delightful charm and sexy voice, she'll have your venue filled with happy people.
Singing tunes from Peggy Lee to Dierks Bentley she keeps a smile on peoples faces.

A Word from Ghostie:  Hey Everyone. So yeah, I am brand new to performing in SL, but with the support and encouragement
of my friends it looks like a new journey has begun. Looking forward to growing and progressing with you all beside me!

Soraya Till presenting Masako

On Saturday we had an amazing guest artist Exhibit Party. The real life art of Masako was presented to us by SL's curator Soraya Till. Soraya is the exclusive curator for Japanese-American artist Masako (she prefers not to use her last name) was born in Japan. She began her career in Europe.
Later, in Asia, she studied under Japanese and Chinese teachers. She developed an artistic style that combines traditional Asian themes and techniques with Western influences. Her art work will be displayed in my Gallery until the 28th of September, when we get a new guest artist, Layla Smith.
The music for the party was provided by Lonestar55 Genesis. He sang a wonderful set for us of music ranging from country, ballads, to rock.
We had a crowd of 37 total people for the party. Not all at the same time. Many came, looked at the art and left. Some listened to the music and danced. Some came after the music was done and looked. I thank everyone who took the time to enjoy this beautiful colorful Asian American art. I hope that you continue enjoying the art shown at my Gallery and others. For those of you that are seeing my blog for the first time, please stop by the gallery and look at the art.  Here is the Slurl:
